What are the benefits of having a Vaginoplasty?

At Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery, we encourage our Atlanta, GA patients to consider a vaginoplasty if they have interest in any of the following benefits which this procedure affords:

  • Reduction of excess skin and folding surrounding vagina
  • Youthful, natural-looking results
  • Heightened sexual confidence as a result of your appearance
  • Greater satisfaction and self-esteem with yourself

How Is Vaginoplasty Performed?

Your vaginoplasty will remove the stretched vaginal tissue and tighten the muscle and soft tissue in that area. This is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Your surgery will begin with Dr. Mang creating incisions in discreet locations near the vagina and then gently tightening the muscle tissue beneath your skin. Next, the opening of the vagina is made smaller by removing a portion of the vaginal lining (mucosa). If you are combining your vaginoplasty with a labiaplasty, Dr. Mang will perform that surgery following the vaginoplasty. At the conclusion of the procedure(s), Dr. Mang will carefully sew close the incisions for optimal results and minimal scarring.

After your vaginoplasty, you can expect a bit of discomfort and pain, as well as bruising and swelling. It is recommended that you do not engage in sexual intercourse, use tampons, or overexert yourself for about 4 – 6 weeks following your surgery. In most situations, you can return to sedentary work in about a week and return to normal everyday activities after about three months. Once you’ve recovered from the surgery, you will have a renewed vaginal opening that feels and looks better. We’ve had patients experience heightened sensitivity and increased friction during intercourse.

Atlanta, GA Vaginoplasty FAQ

Vaginoplasty (or surgical vaginal rejuvenation/reshaping) is a surgical procedure used to tighten and strengthen the walls of the vagina, which may become lax over time because of childbirth, age, genetics, or significant weight loss.

An average vaginoplasty surgery takes Dr. Mang about 1 – 2 hours to complete.

Yes, a vaginoplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia, meaning you will be asleep during the procedure.

Typically, most women are able to return to light activities, including work, after a week. You will still need to avoid vigorous physical activity and exercise and try to avoid friction around the incisions. Dr. Mang will advise you to avoid sexual intercourse, using tampons, or overexerting yourself for about 4 – 6 weeks following your surgery. The usual time for a full return to normal activities is three months.

Dr. Mang recommends that you wait until you are finished having children before having a vaginoplasty procedure done. You can still have children after a vaginoplasty; however, childbirth stretches the muscles and tissues of the vaginal canal, which could require a second vaginoplasty procedure.

Yes, you can. However, Dr. Mang recommends waiting until you are finished having children as childbirth can stretch the vaginal canal, undoing the results of the vaginoplasty and possibly resulting in the need for a second procedure.
Yes, it does. One of the main targeted outcomes of a vaginoplasty is to reduce the vaginal opening and tighten the vaginal walls for a tighter feel. Many women report more friction and greater sexual satisfaction after their vaginoplasty.
Since most insurers consider vaginoplasty an elective procedure, it typically isn’t covered by insurance. However, Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery wants to ensure that their patients can get the quality care they deserve and offers various financing options for your vaginoplasty procedure.
A vaginoplasty can help to reduce the opening of the vagina, but patients whose primary concerns involve the outer appearance of the vagina – including loose or hanging labia – may be better suited to labiaplasty surgery.
For women who may not be ready, willing, or able to undergo invasive surgery or general anesthesia, Dr. Mang may recommend laser vaginal rejuvenation to help address vaginal laxity and other concerns without going under the knife.
